I Wrote the Book on Supporting Postpartum Families
Sounds cheeky. It's also true. Nurturing the Family is required reading in doula certification programs and across professions that serve growing families.
You support families, too. Or you're getting ready to. So let's talk.
Every month, we'll meet on Zoom to work through the book together, one topic at a time. I'll lead us through the experiences and process that brought me to the thoughts I shared. The invitation extends to doulas and pretty much anyone invested in supporting new families. It's an opportunity to try on ideas, reflect on our reactions, and consider how they might translate into the support we bring to new families.
Nurturing the Family was written for busy people — the chapters are short by design. A few pages, a foundational idea — something to sit with during the quiet hours here and there — maybe even to journal on. We'll follow the same format in our session.
We're starting at the beginning. Foundational. Both the role, and the person we bring to it. While the topics may sound basic, many doula trainees have shared that this was the most important part of their evolution as doulas.

The book is not required. There is no cost. Day and time rotate so more people can attend. Registration is required. You'll receive an email with a link for each session you register for. You're invited — and encouraged — to register for any and all sessions.

As families evolve, their needs and the responsibilities of those who support them have to be reimagined.
